{"id":3828,"date":"2014-03-19T10:21:17","date_gmt":"2014-03-19T10:21:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.charles-dickens-gs.de\/en\/?page_id=214"},"modified":"2023-03-21T17:23:10","modified_gmt":"2023-03-21T17:23:10","slug":"europe-branch","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.charles-dickens-grundschule.de\/en\/europe-branch\/","title":{"rendered":"EUROPE BRANCH"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>State Europe School (SESB) English-German<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The aim of our Europe School is to teach German and English speaking children together at the same time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ideally classes are made up of 50 percent German and 50 percent English mother tongue children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The English mother tongue teachers contribute not only their skills in their subject areas but also a feeling for the language and culture of their homeland.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children learn to read and write in their mother tongue language group (MT).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children continue to develop their partner tongue through games, stories and creative activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Children learn to read and write in the partner tongue during their second year at school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>State Europe Schools are \u201call day schools\u201d with compulsory attendance from 8.00 until 4.00 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Subjects taught in English by native English speakers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>English mother tongue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>English partner tongue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Environmental Studies (years 1- 4)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>History\/Citizenship (years 5-6) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Geography (years 5-6) <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Science (years 5-6) <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Subjects taught in German:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>German mother tongue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>German partner tongue<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maths<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ethics<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Religion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Subjects taught in either English or German:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Art<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Music<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Foreign language<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>French (years 5-6)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Europe Schools the children develop intensive bi-cultural and multi-cultural contacts.
