Counselling & Support
A confidential and trustworthy point of contact for students, parents, teachers, and educators – offering individual counselling, accompaniment to appointments, referral to counselling centres, preparation of social-pedagogical reports, and concrete everyday assistance.
Child Protection & School Absenteeism
The goal is to protect children and young people from harmful situations by responding early to signs of endangerment, strengthening children’s rights, and working preventively in close cooperation with parents, educators, and external agencies. In addition, school social work supports all students who stay away from class due to problems through individual counselling and accompaniment, enabling a sustainable return to school.
Strengthening Community
Promotion of social skills and cohesion through various projects, group activities, and social-pedagogical work in the student club for EU grades 5 and 6, as well as support for transitions to subsequent schools.
School social work also provides case-based support during excursions or class trips.
Democratic Education
Leadership of the student parliament at Charles Dickens Primary School together with a teacher from the European department and the tri-team educator, as well as support for class councils/social learning – fostering more participation and lived children’s rights. The aim is to involve children and young people more strongly in school decision-making processes and to make democratic participation tangible for them.
Cooperation & Networking
Social-pedagogical work includes collaboration within school committees as well as cooperation with external partners such as the youth welfare office, SIBUZ, the children’s and youth parliament, the district AG78, other schools, and open child and youth facilities, etc. Additionally, tri-team work between teacher, educator, and school social worker helps support children holistically, identify support needs at an early stage, and coordinate joint measures – for example in ESL.
Support for Newly Arrived Families
School social work offers help with applications, referrals to counseling centers, and support when joining the new school community or transferring to another school.

Commitment to Diversity & Courage
Active participation in the school project “School without Racism – School with Courage” and dedication to a respectful, open environment against discrimination and exclusion. Students learn through various preventive activities to stand up against bullying and injustice and to raise their voices.
